Opens ONLY at night, at 9.30pm onwards everyday, EXCEPT Monday. This is an Indian stall, NOT Mamak's (Indian Muslim) as mostly would have mistaken on their first time visit. We cannot ascertain the halal-ness (kosher) of the food served. NO HALAL symbol is displayed like the common branded food outlets. A small stall which occupies about 80 customers at one time. Most of the time, during our visit here, loyal patrons are mostly Chinese(60%), Indian and other ethnics making the rest of it.
Car parking can be really a challenge as this stall is situated along busy main road. Hence, it is limited and normally we come this place early, around 9pm to avoid disappointment of having to walk faraway. Drinks can be ordered first as normally the foods will arrives later, earliest ever recorded; around 9.30pm!
Amloo Stall loyal customers can be seen loitering waiting for their food arrival.
When the boss or owner arrives with the van, as the curry pots are carried out, scene of customers rush over to check out (or rather scoping) the dishes.Nasi lemak in packets which are piled in box and hard boiled eggs are grabbed first for those who refused to be among those swarming crowds.
Their highly recommended item:
Roti Jinglee - their unique invention of salad (shredded carrot and cabbage); with chunks of either chicken bits (ayam) or mutton varuval(kambing) or kosong (roti salad); wrapped with roti canai and served with chilli sauce and mayonnaise. We don't know how the name Jinglee came about, probably Amloo's owner thought Jinglee can be a good substitute to Bruce Lee or Chun Li (of Capcom's famous Street Fighters character).
It was indeed a killer decision as it turn out their fluffy Roti Canai really taste good with the fillings, on top of chilli and mayo sauce.
The JOKER says YUCKS! However The DEVIL loves it so much. |
Chicken Feet Curry- the crowd favorite including the DEVIL (aka Fennie), normally those ordering rice with dishes. Chinese customers favorite item! Also known as Phoenix Claw (in Chinese) the curry is NOT really hot but the aroma & spiciness goes well with plain white rice.
Nes-Lo - A combination beverage of Nescafe and Milo, probably you'll consider this is the best and cheapest in Klang valley. Served with ice, the kao-ness (brewing thickness) is unlike cheapo drink from some Mamak's outlet, you'll often be turned off by diluted drink from the melting ice cubes.
Other worth mentioning foods:
Nasi Lemak in packet OR customized with your choice of condiments,
Mee Goreng (fried noodle),
White rice with dishes of vegetable, fried chicken, various curries.
Roti Canai Goreng (fried version of Roti Canai)
Other available stuffs:
Common drinks as in Mamak's outlet except fruit drinks.
Roti Canai, Roti Telur; but NO thosai or chapati.
For those who prefer something warm and fresh for late dinner or supper, unlike those Mamak's outlet where high chance you'll be served with unsold noon re-heated dishes. Come here, if you are looking for nice and economical food.
The DEVIL with peace sign (^o^)v |
Our bill for 2 glasses of iced Teh-O-Limau (ice lemon tea), a packet of Nasi Lemak, a small plate of Phoenix Claws Curry @ 3pieces (RM1), a small plate of anchovy sambal, 1 hard boiled egg, a plate of Mee Goreng, a plate of Roti Canai Goreng & Roti Jinglee Kambing (mutton) was RM26.30 nett; NO nonsense government nor service taxes. Considered cheap & satisfying.
Their service was quite fast, rarely made mistakes unlike other certain stalls with the comparison of similar crowd.
Their location :
Now at new premise (sharing location with steelworks showroom), if you are coming towards from Mines Wonderland shopping centre, take notice of ET Furniture along Jalan Besar (No kidding, man! How on earth did E.T. come to Malaysia?) on your left.
Amloo Stall is just directly opposite, and that showroom of steel gate is LiangYee Metal Works Sdn Bhd. Do aware that Amloo Stall does NOT have any display signboard, so you have to rely on our blog's pictures as reference.
Don't rely on GPS malfreemap site or Google Earth/Map, the exact location is at :
